Years ago, they were constructed everywhere a housing addtion be added. Sidewalks provided a perfect place for children to ride bikes, swot up to skate and play other games. They also gave nation a protected place to walk in need being threatened by moving vehicle. Why don't they build them anymore?
My address falls underneath the unincorporated part of the county, nothing neighboring cities so we don't get sidewalks. If we be to be incorporated into a neighboring city, then sidewalks would be element of the infrastructure improvements. They would look out of place here where on earth the zoning is R-5 which means 5 acres or more per parcel. More than feasible they would also make the homeowner (me) reward for it too. I would be against anything that made me pay for something I don't use.
In heaps developments the builder is responsible for installing all infrastructure close to sidewalks, curbs, street lights, and even the streets within the nouns. The builder is of course going to endorse these costs on to the residents.
Many residents either don't perfectionism about sidewalks or don't want them. Most associates in America don't saunter anywhere, and having sidewalks seem to encourage dog-walkers (and the resulting dog poop), children on bikes, etc.
Answers: Oh my! Having been through this one myself after a niece (8 years old) tripped on a broken sidewalk of an elderly neighbor, who used a wicker and a walker herself, I can relate. The cities used to put them surrounded by, and it was up to homeowners to hang on to them free of snow, lawns mowed and edged, but over the years, the push to spend smaller amount here to pay for this nearby has pushed tons a city and state to breaking points just trying to prolong schools and essential services (fire, rescue, and police). Builders don't put them contained by their neighborhoods, as its thought to be an "unneeded expense" that most people will not repay for, like inner air would be. Some ethnic group think of them approaching clotheslines, low rent, slum like and so on. Foolishness really. After going round and round near the city to repair our aging sidewalks, they wanted us to clear for them, but its not our property, finally after much wrangling, we were told to vote YES, sure we'll pay, afterwards a "WEED AND SEED Program" came contained by and was in actuality used to repair and replace the aging and most dangerous sidewalks. The neighbors who said "NO" get NOTHING and their sidewalks look even tackier with trial ones butted up to old ones. I didn't say aloud they were bright, purely got the worst of the worst repaired within a patchwork way. We use ours alot, for the kids riding their bikes, walking, walking the dogs (my dogs NEVER poop surrounded by someones yard, I take a little shoulder bag JUST IN CASE a poo slips out, sneaky petes!) for chatting with our neighbors, discussing the weather, the spanking new sidewalks, our gardens, from our porches and offers of relieve with chores. Its lately nice like that, except one really bleak neighbor who likes to conflict with everyone, everyone else is totally worth it. We own what they call a "run in", which is roughly, offroad parking area near "crush and run" rock, next to the sidewalks and after our little front yards and homes which enjoy HUGE back yard.like 300 foot down to the creek. Its like fantasy here. But most places aren't like Bristol, Tennessee. This is "A nice place to live" read our sign on State Street, where on earth you can stand in Bristol, Va and Bristol, Tn at indistinguishable time! Its like Mayberry here! Better EVEN!
