Answers: I think the sponge would fetch more, it's thicker and has hundreds of tiny cell that germs and bacteria can grow surrounded by. If it's still in honest condition the sponge can be soaked in a bowl of hose and Clorox, to kill any germs or microbes. Rinse well and you can verbs to use it. :-)
I would say the plastic scour pad. It doesn't involve anything like the sponge or cloth and can be tossed away when it go and get icky.
