What kind of "best" ? The brand or cost ? You get hold of what you pay for. AC components (the coil in the furnace and the condenser outside) are made by a small group of companies so if you buy a US name-brand you should be okay. However, buy the installation from a local outfit so you own a "real" person to complain to if there are problems. Compare warrantees. Avoid discount places approaching Sears or Lowe's that farm-out the installation to a subcontractor from 50 miles away who gives them a cheap price and doesn't care something like the job. Buy a straight AC system with big efficiency rating/low electric consumption and "Energy Star" rating so you can take a federal charge credit. Made sure they install the outdoor condensing unit in the shade and NOT UNDER A ROOF EAVE.
