Answers: carry a programable thermostat.. itll save you seriously.. i would say if you dont want to buy one...only just keep the atmosphere on like 78 when you are away..and when you come home put it on no lower than 72.. and it will give a hand. I always move off mine on 78.. when its hotter I'll do 75..
For out and about quit it on. It uses less vim to keep the house cool since it just has to cool to that one point. Shutting it off and consequently back on make it work harder to cool down since your house has be heated up to higher temp.
Going on time off, I would turn it off.
