What are these insects and how can I gain rid of them? I've found something like a spiderweb draped on a few limb...
I've found something like a spiderweb draped on a few limb of a tree in my patio. There is something inside it that looks like a hive. There are worm-like insects that crawl over it too. Besides anyone creepy, i think they might be wounding the tree. What are they and how can I get rid of them?
Answers: they could be tent worms but since i dont enjoy a pictur of them i cant really tell you want they are. to draw from rid of them poke open the so ring up spider web and permit the birds eat them, or freshly smash them.
They are probably webworms. They are a type of moth larvae. They are bizarre...and creepy looking, but they will not damage the host tree. You can bring back rid of them with pesticides or keep on until they fall out of the tree on their transformation to becoming a moth and consequently cut out the web (it will probably not nose-dive out on it's own or blow off anytime soon, as they are pretty polite little builders).
