Answers:    Here's a few links to great net site for growing things in Minnesota.It is all quantity of the "MINNESOTA GROWN" program. The last link for example is a enumerate of where you can buy plants--all over the state. It's a GREAT resource!

Now since we are well into summer, it's too belatedly to start a crop, but you can still plant annuals.

Also, visit public gardens and plant stores to get an opinion of what you want to get. The BEST place to visit is the University of Minnesota's Arboretum contained by Chanhassen, MN. It is FREE to visit on Thursday evening.
