Today 7/12/08 my sister-in-law told me that her and her daughter get stung by ants.? These ants are jet black in color, approx. 1/16 of an inch...

These ants are jet black in color, approx. 1/16 of an inch long and they be in her back patio. She got stung by these ants 3 weeks ago. Anyone know what kind of ant this is?

I think we would have to see a picture to identify the ant. Your sister-in-law and her daughter be probably bitten. Ants don't have stingers, but they can bite. Maybe fire ants, I live in the carolinas i'm not sure where on earth else they are but they suck, when they bite it really hurts and leaves a painful little red bump. That would be my best guess.
