What does it mean when a house's description includes the lingo "scuttle access"? What is a scuttle? Why is there access to it?
b ann is correct..it is usually located contained by a hallway or a closet..it is the access hole near in instruct to have access to the electrical system, insulation etcetera in the adjectives if you need it..

It sounds resembling a spider's entrance! I've never heard of scuttle access but a scuttle hole is the entrance to the attic, the bit of removable 'ceiling' to gain entry, if that make sense.

As you can probably tell, I am neither a realtor, architect or contractor!
Answers:    I am not a realtor, architect or contractor but a scuttle access is the crack to the attic that is freshly a panel you slide open minus a stairway. You need a stepladder to get into the attic thru the hatch, or scuttle.
