Spider plant to big for pot? my spider plant is very big contained by a med size...

my spider plant is very big contained by a med size pot it hasnt had a kid in a long time i be letting it full out well thicken up an know it is. so much that the pot is too full. my sister said to cut it contained by half but how can i do that wont it butcher it. i want it to hang so i dont know how larger i can jump on the pot. i did put it outside when it was blustery and it got a moment or two beaten up but it is still growing. i dont hold on to any of the babies, could that hurt it if i do i cut all but one past its sell-by date so it will grow better. i give it cold hose down so it gets stronger but presently that summer is here i give i room temp. i havent checked the roots to see how impossible they are. the last time i moved it the roots have gone down to the bottom of the pot and was coming spinal column up. i know the roots like to be tight. i kill my other by not puting the roots in tight and going away it outside well hubby did. is within a way i can cut my plant down to two next to out killing it or do i involve to get a bigger pot. and how big.12 inch immediately.
Answers:    ~ Knock the plant out of the pot. With a sharp knife or a couple of pruners, cut it in partially or quarters depending on the size of the crown, and replant. With a 12 " pot you could cut it into partially easily.
We cut our into 2 and replanted into larger pots. Make sure that you press the potting soil all right with your hand, and give it plenty of hose.
