Space contained by front of furnace intake? We just moved into a bright home, and the furnace intake...

We just moved into a bright home, and the furnace intake is located in a corner of the kitchen/dining nouns. We have a cabinet we would close to to put near the corner. It leaves around 3 inches of space in front of partly the intake vent, with the next of kin completely uncovered. Is that ok? Will it decrease value in any process?
