Some question just about using borax as ant slaughterer? Last night, I made the following poison to butcher the ants...
Last night, I made the following poison to butcher the ants in my kitchen and set them out within baby food jar lid:
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
1/2 TB borax
Today the ants are swarming adjectives over it. While many give the impression of being to be going back and forth to their colony, others are dying on the spot (around the lid or inside the liquid). I'm surprised they're dying right there. Is this commonplace? I hope I haven't made it so strong that they're dying before taking it hindmost to the colony. What is your experience with this?
I hold some other questions as okay...
Since the mixtureis a liquid (not a solid they can convey back to their buddies), how exactly do they spread the poison to the others? Do the ants regurgitate their food when they obtain back to the colony or something? I'm confused how this stuff is supposed to work, but since so oodles people swear by it I am giving a shot. Any thoughts or proposal? Thanks!
Answers: The Borax is the killer . The sugar is the attractor. I'm not sure what the wet is for. The granule's of borax is the important element to take rear legs to the nest. The water beside the borax dissolving is probably why they are dyeing on the spot.
I agree it is the sugar that is attracting the ants. If you really want to win rid of ants, you sprinkle some coffee grounds near window and doors. You can also sprinkle some around corners on your counter tops. It works trust me.
