i believe my deep freezer chest is something like to die. i can hear it click on for a few seconds and next it turns off. name me paranoid but my house burned down a few months ago. should i leave it alone because it is still cold and complete with food, or should i put adjectives the food in my rime chest until monday when i can buy a new one? sustain.
Answers:    Actually, it is not about to die, it is newly low on refrigerant. It is not an electrical hazzard and will not start a fire, however, it probably isn't really doing much "cooling" in this state anyway if it singular runs for a few seconds. This is call "short-cycling". You will have to hold an authorized repair person look at it to find the dribble (the refrigerant had to be in motion somewhere) and charge it with some more. This is not cheap. If it is a smaller chest freezer (ie. 5, 7, 10 cuft) you might return with off cheaper b uying a trial one. If it is a larger one (13, 15 cuft) these are a little more expensive and it might be more cost important to have someone come out and run a look at it. Keeping in mind that the principle the refrigerant leaked out within the first place might not be very cheap to fix any.
Let's look at it his way. If you unplug it, you'll sleep better for the subsequent couple of nights. If you don't you're going to be worried going on for it the entire time.

As long as you can store the food, just unplug it and stop worrying almost it. Also, you can probably leave the food within there for almost 24 hours as long as you don't open the freezer once you shut it sour. It will work just similar to a cooler. You can always put the food surrounded by a cooler later if it's going to pilfer a little longer to replace your freezer or if it starts to defrost.
