We are looking at a house in coastal Georgia. The entire island is surrounded by a flood zone but there is no history of flooding surrounded by that neighborhood since it was established contained by the 1940's. The house is 1750 square feet, adjectives on one floor, on a very rank lot. In that area, I doubt that it would be possible to sink exceptionally deep piers. I know this would be an expensive undertaking, but does anyone hold any idea as to how expensive? Thanks.
Answers:    In my location, raise a house and putting it back down on the fresh foundation is generally around $5-7 thousand. I own no idea what the piers might cost but you should also consider the floor framing. I would suggest that you may be into give or take a few $30000 when it is all said and done.
i own seen houses on crawlspace foundations raise pretty easily, but i own never heard of one on a slab human being raised. the principal problem is first getting under the slab, consequently raising every portion of the house at exactly impossible to tell apart rate and to exactly the same elevation, otherwise the slab will crack all to hell. another issue is adjectives the plumbing that sits under the slab, how do you work around that? i would voice buy good flood insurance or look at something else. perchance talk to a foundation contractor and see what they come up near.
