I have a pencil cactus specifically huge,i can barely get hold of it in the house contained by winter.I live in Alabama it still get cold, only for one or two days.Is it undamaging to to put in the ground,or should I hold on to it as a patio plant? It must be seven foot tall!!
Answers: Euphorbia tirucalli / Milkbush - your pencil cactus can grow up to 30ft towering. Requires warm dry climate. I'd preserve it on the patio.
I have one 8 ft. tall within Pensacola. It was protected below a canopy, but still get frost-bit. I ended up adjectives it back to in the region of 4 ft. and it still grew well. If possible, I would bring it surrounded by during cold spells.
