I want to replace my old pane for a new one? What brand would you recommend? Price is not an issue. I have need of a good standard.
Answers: Pella windows are commonly considered the best. From personal experience, I agree.
I would suggest having someone install the Anderson window and try them if price is no object.
We've have all our window replaced (some twice) with double pane skylight. We bought all of the first group at Home Depot and have some problems with them. Next we purchased some at a neighborhood supply store (supposed to be fundamentally good windows) and we've begin to experience problems (not straight in frame sash doesn't close down correctly, locks misaligned so can't occupy locks, windows thorny to open because of design problem place to grip pane sash is too small to grab, twisting windows). Some of the problem can be attributed to our glass openings surrounded by our old house one no longer perfectly square due to settlement of house & twisting of frame??? that's trying to be do about it. Mostly, poor workmanship. Except for our front window, all window were surrounded by the medium price extent. No problem noticed beside our front windows.
Our house have over 30 windows. That be a big plus when we bought the house but since then we notice that there is significant expense involved contained by maintaining them.
