I pulled out most of the weeds, and broke off must of the inert wood, but now it looks pretty rough. There are still a few branchs with leaves, and here are leaves growing out of the bottom.

Answers:    Hi.What you've done is great...we all need a bit pruning at times...food and water.and face lift up...some good light fertilizer..see back and let it grow. Do rather tender work around it..first.they like to feed up on the top more than some plants...within the area where I live they also soak up a little bark around them..sounds close to your just about near..have fun.I like to tender my plants oriental prunings..I usually layer them in 3's(different heights) bye
