hi i have a 240v 70w metal halide downlight beside the control gear but can you use a 150w metal halide with the control gear as on the inside of the control gear it say on the side of the ignitor it can run globes from 70w up to 150w is this correct?

Be careful as it is the boil that the light puts out that will shorten its enthusiasm dramatically.

The bigger the watts the more the heat, the more normally you replace them.
