Answers:    well your house will be hot surrounded by the summer thats for sure- unless you keep the drapes closed from more or less noon to 7pm- it's ok for some east and west facing window just don't shift overboard on your west facing windows- and invest in some great curtains and drapes that can block afternoon sun- you'll be fine

No. For concerns, put roof/canopy on deck.
Will hold more wind problems on North or West sides plus longer melt times for ice. I prefer walkway on the East and/or South. Each individual would have their own nouns for different reasons.
