Is installing a metal roof better than shingles? Which is more costly and holds heat better contained by the home We had a fruitless wind storm and allot of my shingles...

We had a fruitless wind storm and allot of my shingles are lift up. I found some shingles on the ground. I have an A-Frame house. I want what ever I choose to look flawless , but not over costly. The insurance company is picking up most of the tab. I don't know if this matters, but I live within the woods and moss tends to grow on shingles, even near attic fans. Do the metal roofs rust assured? Do they hold up in hailstones storms? This is my second roof from storms and hail contained by 11 years using shingles. Please I would appreciate answers from people who own first hand know-how of shingle or metel roofing, or some other material I haven't hear about. All the Best ;-) Kats
Answers:    Install a metal roof properly and you will not enjoy problems for a long time. Shingles will rip off near time and in glorious winds close to where I live. I don't verbs about the frozen rain, a few minor dents isn't anything, exp if you buy the good stuff. I use 3' widespread X 20-24 long I I never worry abt these roofs. The 3 tab ones are shot on my college building after 5 yrs where the dignified wind & rainfall hit & the metal I put there is still watertight.

I have an assistance in that I live practical a metal roof manufacturer, so I seize the over runs for about $6.50 respectively from them.

Just buy the right length nails beside the rubber gromets & put it on right & you won't ever have to verbs about it.
you are markedly going to pay more for a metal roof, but it is so worth it. they are made of a matter that does not rust (galvalum), and yes, they do hold up very remarkably well. you want to cause darn sure that you have an experienced and conversant roofer because an improperly installed metal roof is no devout. an added bonus: the rain sounds so awesome on a metal roof! in that are 100 year-old barns around here that are about to trip up down, but the metal roofs are still in great shape!
