I need it for a bench that I sanded the previous stain stale of. The wood is very elegant and soft and I'd like to hold on to it that way but next to a little more protection. I surmise that they use mineral oil on salad bowls but I don't expect that would work very resourcefully for what I'm using it for. Any suggestions would be great
Answers: Minwax Transparent wood stain will do .. just don't put on a clear coat afterward.If i.e. too dull then try a flat finish polyurethane over the stain.

I guess it depends how much time/energy you want to put into this project :) You are probably looking for a "satin" (little shine) or "matte" (no shine) finish .
To do a honest job it will thieve some effort but the results should be powerfully worth it! (see link at the bottom)
