Answers: I've never seen spinach sold as a starter pland, but you can try Menards, Home Depot or Lowes for seed. If they don't have any, try a smaller store resembling Ace Hardware. Walmart is a department store, so they probably only take a limited screening of the most popular plant seeds. You'll probably find a bigger miscellany at the stores that have a bigger garden center.
My Wal-Mart sell three different kinds of spinach seed. Maybe you need to try a different Wal-Mart? You told me something I didn't know. I never know they sold spinach sprouts.
I didn't realize spinach needed cool weather to grow. I planted mine too late contained by the season and the complete bed died. I'll try again this Autumn.
