I purchased a red banana plant for Christmas. I put it into a slightly larger pot than it was within originally, and I let it dry out tastefully before watering again as I be told. Now, however, I have yellowing occurring around the point of 80% of the leaves, and two of them are too far gone to save. Is nearby something I am doing wrong, or anything that I can do to prevent this yellowing from taking over? I'm not sure if there is a fertilizer that benefits banana's more than another or not. Please lend a hand!!! I love my banana!
Answers: Banana trees do not need that sizeable of a pot as suggested here and the roots do not go adjectives..they are relatively shallow in certainty...I have 31 banana trees surrounded by my yard here surrounded by Florida, and banana trees fruit out only once later that particular stalk dies after a couple months afterwards and falls over on it's on accord..but until that time it falls it shoots out at the bottom rhizone what is called "pups"..(baby plants coming up) out of the ground after it falls.Nature makes the banana tree root shallow for that dedicated reason..so it smoothly falls over after fruiting and "pupping out" to reproduce..After I pick my fruit from a stem and the pups have appeared i move about ahead and cut that one down so I generate most the energy into the investigational energing plants(pups)...Banana trees require VERY LITTLE FERTILIZER..and over fertilizing is not good for them...it individual takes close to 1/2 cup of ammonia nitrate(fertilizer) to feed 8 or 10 plants for a intact year..now here is what your problems could be... Overwtaering is not appropriate..and they definately need proper drainage..in need drainage in the pot they are contained by they will get root rot and die..produce sure you have 3 or 4 considerable holes in the bottom of your planting vessel..You do entail a planter that is going on for 5 to 7 gallons for the root ball ..in fact called a rhizone will merely get just about that big around...Here are a couple pictures of mine and even one in bloom beside the small bananas forming above the bloom..Here is a paragraph concerning this statement..and then the intermingle below it where it come from..
