Your tree is your responsibility. Your neighbor is within his court rights to call to hold someone trim YOUR tree off of his property and dispatch you the bill.
Having the limb removed is cheaper than a law suit. Do NOT own the limb stubbed put a bet on to the property line. The regrowth is nippy plus the new stuff is outstandingly weakly attached and far more likely to fall down on his roof.
Contact a certified arborist with ISA or NAA credentials. They know what they are doing and pass the insurance. Joe-Pickup Truck probably doesn't have the insurance, equipment or familiarity to do the job properly. Those will be expensive limb!! but far less expensive than a different roof and bad mental state.
