Let me start off by adage that I have never have to pay an electricity bill up to that time as this is my first apartment because I just graduate from college and moved out on my own. I live alone in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment, which is pretty big for an apartment. When I first signed my lease, I asked the leasing agent how much utilites would run and she said that her ultimate electricity bill ever was $60 and that be when her boyfriend was staying next to her and taking like 2 showers per daylight and that the apartments were hugely energy modernized. Well, I got my first bill concluding month and it was $98! That did include a $15 start up tax, but still, even without the allowance that is seriously higher than a maximum of $60! I don't really run the boil that often because it get hot in here after 30 minutes next to the heat on and stays reheat for along time, and I turn off lights surrounded by rooms I'm not using. When I go out, the merely thing I go on is a small lamp for my dog.
Answers:    Compact florescent fluffy bulbs are much more energy restructured. Or switch to a lower wattage incandescent bulb, and only move them on if you are actually surrounded by the room where they are human being used. (It takes awhile to receive in the need of turning off the wispy switch as you exit any room, even if you are coming back shortly.. ) As for grill, try wearing sweaters and long underwear unless you feel it is bitter cold here. Then, turn on the heat, but turn it stern down once th eplace feels heat up. Don't sleep with the furnace running, only plie on extra balnkets or snuggle more.... Cover the windows, if you hold curtains, that will help save the warmth contained by and the cold out. Do you also have aroom mate? If so, monitor their usage. Don't cook if you can microwave . It take longer to bake a potato than to microwave on for instance. More time-more power...
There's also the possibility that some other apartment is hooked accidentally to yours. Have the power company come out and turn rotten your meter and see. Do you cook alot? If so, check your applinaces like the refrigerator to see if it is rate with Energy Star stash Etc.
REMEMBER to be CONSCIOUS that Every "little" thing that uses power may be sucking up your vivacity and MONEY!
Electric cooking devises like crockpots, ovens & ranges or hot-plates, hairdryers, TVs cell phone chargers, computers next to monitors, toaster ovens, audio equipment. clock radios, microwave ovens, elecrtic can openers, electric coffee makers, I-pods, curling irons, . you should try charging these things at work if you can...Don't set out the monitor on all daytime long if you're not home. etc.
Conserve! Turn things off when not contained by use. Get rid of old strength hog applicances.
