How much dynamism do those little cheap electric kerosene lamp timers that turn on and bad your kerosene lamp use? I like to use mine to turn on and on my lamp...

I like to use mine to turn on and on my lamp at dark, because i always read when i go to bed, and next i fall asleep and forget to turn off my street light. This means that i have a storm lantern burning for like 7 or 9 hours as I sleep, which wastes electricity. The timer prevents this.
BUT, if the timer, which is constantly running 24/7, uses more perkiness in 24 hours than the bulb does in 7 hours, there's no point contained by doing this, right?
And please don't tell me to buy a book light. Those things wipe out batteries, and batteries are expensive.
Thanks.
Answers:    8 or 10 watts
I bought one at harbor frieght to be precise mechanical and the only electricty used is by the muted itself. The other type use no more than a alarm clock which is very little. about 1 tenth of a 60 watt lantern bulb Mechanical ones use no electric at all
