I would like to grow my own eggs because I figure it will give a hand save me more money than buying them at the grocery store. So how exactly do I grow an eggplant and where can I buy seed? Thanks
The links below will give you sources of seeds and growing tips. An egg plant does NOT produce eggs. Hope you really know that. Evidently the others didn't red the question thoroughly. If you really want to grow egg plant let me suggest the Asian range. The fruits are smaller and quite delicious within stir fry dishes. It is a bit late in the year to start though.
By this time of year it is probably too late, I don`t know not. Eggplant require very warm climates and plenty of sun. Think Middle East and Mediterranean climates. Since they hold awhile to produce from seed...100 days or so, many citizens either start the seed indoors and transplant out the little one plants or purchase "starts" or small plants. They need the same broad growing conditions as tomatoes and peppers, good soil, high temperature, sun and good fertility.
If you have a growers' or farmers' open market in your area, check near the sellers. Often they have eggplant, especially if in attendance is a good ethnic mix population in your nouns.
Answers: You need a cluck cluck chicken to get eggs. Go to e-bay and acquire some eggs and an incubator to hatch some. People will mail the eggs that can hatch.
I started my seed in February indoors and planted them outside the end of April. They are a moment ago now starting to make flowers and eggs. I bought my seed at walmart and burpee. And they are both growing great! They like support just close to tomatoes, so get them a cage! Enjoy! Its soo much fun! To grow an egg, you want a hen. :)
