1 china mug has a square stand base. It is caught inside a stoneware mug. The second mug is a "normal" curved shape. The first mug will rock a little to and fro but we can't handle to separate them. There are 2 problems with smashing 1 mug: ideally I'd approaching to keep them both and the inside mug is the more wonderful.
Any suggestions? Perhaps heating one (which?) / lubricants / something more creative?
Answers:    Unfortunately, lubrication will not work. These enjoy become interlocked because of their different expansion rates due to heat.

Get a saucepan, some rime and fill the kettle.

Fill the square underneath china mug with rime to the top, and then cram it with dampen to close up all the gap in the rime. Leave for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, boil the kettle and steep the saucepan with adequate boiling water to come 3/4 the passageway up the stoneware mug. Immerse the stoneware mug and leave for at least possible 5 minutes. Time is your friend with this. Top up near hot and cold respectively if necessary.

If steam harmed china, how would you put tea in it? Some aid is necessary though, sharp change in warmth are not good, so be paid sure you don't splash hot onto the cold china mug or it will shatter.
Neat washing up solution down the gap usually does the trick.
