Covers are only for advanced pool users. Unfortunately covers conceal the water color or turbidity your first clue that something is amiss. Next, if your cat or dog be to jump on the cover and it is not fully fastened to the pool your pet who can swim will likely be enveloped by the cover and become a fatality. Works like peas in a pod for people too.
Fully secured covers are more costly than Home Depot PVC and will prevent encapsulation.
