i know it has something to do beside a pin but what is the trick
Answers:    If you're talking in the order of a door knob that has a lock on one side but no switch on the other, the hole is to let you unlock it should the door catch locked and closed in error.

If the locking machine is a button type (you just push the button contained by to lock it) then any species of pin or needle (as long as it is long and sturdy enough) should allow you to release the lock from the other side. If it's the type that you push and verbs, it may require a flat-head screwdriver to be able to insert and turn the locking components.

Given your description ("a small hole"), I'm guessing it is the former and only requires something long and contracted. Just be careful that you don't use something that will effortlessly snap, as that will create further problems.

Hope that helps.
Use a push button.
