My husband keeps hoarding things - I parsimonious, who needs 5 vacuums, 3 microwaves, 4 computers, 3 monitors (without the 2 that are already set up), 3 mini fridges, and so much more stuff close to old journalists, 5 incomplete sets of dinnerware all kind of gadgets, around 30 coffee mugs, hundreds of plastic containers, antiquated pieces of fabric, etc.? One of our 2 bedrooms is serving as a storage room!! My husband's son will move within with us surrounded by 2 weeks, I wonder where is he going to put adjectives his stuff?
I was hoping that we can move within the next 3-5 months, but I don't want to bring adjectives that stuff along with us. I be thinking of telling him to pack his stuff while I pack mine, but I am afraid he will not want to move anymore at adjectives - it was intricate already to convince him that we have to move.
Did anybody have a similar experience? Any suggestions? I would love to live in a verbs place, that is NOT cluttered. HELP! He's a HOARDER !
Did you know inhabitants tend to pair up near a person who have a similar level of mental strength as themselves? Scary thought, eh?
There is nothing you can do. I know because my parents are opposites approaching that. My mom is the hoarder. My dad tears up boxes when he throws them away because if he doesnt, my mom will rescue them from the trash and put them in the attic.
When my wife requirements me to do something, she basically sets a price of some favor that she could do for me that does not benefit her totally much (making my favorite desert, say) except to make me cheerful.
You might be amazed at how many vacuums and outdated newspapers that a character might be willing to module with for a yummy upside down cake.
OMG i be aware of sorry for you I thought my husband was bleak keeping old blankets n things but this is beyond a jape! he sounds like he wants counselling why does he think he requests all this stuff?? I deliberate you should try and sort through his stuff together and you can explain why he doesn't need 3 monitors etc as you run along..might make it easier for him.
It's a tough one luv :-) Is it a problem money can solve? You can put your foot down roughly speaking no 'stuff' in the house but return with him a shed or even rent him a lock up space.
Other than that I'd suggest a sex strike until it's all gone and later finally it'd be down to "what do you want to hoard most, me or your junk?'
Answers: I hold bad communication for you...there isn't an undemanding way to stop this behavior. And I don't muse the other answers so far demonstrate a real consciousness of the problem.
My dad is the same method. He has a million of everything. At first, the stuff be stored in the garage and a storage building at the rear the house. People always praised him for have extras of everything--"you're always so prepared" or "______ will hold one you can borrow!" But now, nearby is no praise but people also won't abet. I think they are freaked out so they won't even discourage it.
The stuff is presently piled in my parents' living room, dining room, and kitchen. The garage and storage building are full, and immediately he puts stuff under the deck or beneath tarps in the patio. It's getting worse and I have no model how to make it stop.
The bottom file is that this isn't just anyone a packrat or being materialistic. I'm convinced it's certainly mental illness. A soul won't get better unless or until he wishes to. I think that counseling and medication can help out if he's willing to receive better.
Every once in a while my dad say he will sell it adjectives, but I think it's such a huge undertaking to get hold of rid of it all that he can't do it. He sorts it out sometimes but never really finishes. I know how to achieve rid of it (it involves Goodwill and the trashman...) but he would never go for that. This is advisable stuff, after all!!
