Ok, since pretty much late spring our house has be subject to carpenter ants. We tried different traps but none worked, we then tried Boaric (sp?) acid (powdery blue stuff) down and for a week or two it seem to work, we then removed all the sharp and shortly after they all came support. the main rooms they are in are the kitchen, bathroom, and disappointingly my bedroom (im only 18). i wake up several times a dark to at least one ant crawling on me, this has lead to the early stages of insomia, because all i can come up with about is when i'll be crawled on next, cuz really its gross and i dont close to the thought of ants using me as a sidewalk. we recently i found two holes in the wall, one within my room, one in the bathroom, i have put more boric bitter down and plugged on the holes (the one in my room) with poster putty. but i also, in recent times today, realized my wooden dresser (with a fish tank on top, marine has leaked before) so im thinking my dresser is in that nest cuz i've seen sawdust n such, HELP ME
theres this kl ant repellent or something u can get
unsophisticatedly its a little black box with poison inside
the ants crawl within and eat some (cuz its sweet or something and attracts them) but it doesnt kill them without hesitation. then they bring some back to their nest and nurture their friends it, then they pass it on and the full colony dies. its reli gd, we used it when we had an ant problem. sory i dunno what its called!! but gd luck
possibly sleep over at a frends for a couple of nights until u can sleep agen :)

Carpenter ants actually have a nest any in the attic, walls (they like to live contained by insulation) or outside beneath the ground. Most of them live in the nest and never leave. The few you see are the ones that are considered the "explorer" ants. You will never waste all the ants with any insecticide since you are just killing these "explorer" ants. The are not like red ants and do not convey the poison back to the nest.

You will have to find the nest and wipe out all the ants - it can be difficult to find the nest and i think it's easier to hire a professional to find it and put to death them off.
Answers:    the saw dust looking material is what they see out of their nest...more than likely there in fact is no wood in it at all that be chewed, but rather their shed skins as they pupated to the adults. From the pile of dust go straight up and you might see where on earth they are kicking the material out. The problem with carpenter ant treatments is that the homeowner usually won't know how to get the insecticides into the voids where the ants are nesting. Boric bitter is too heavy a dust to be really effective contained by their voids and just sprinkling around will only put to death what foragers get into it. The traps you buy from the stores are useless against carp ants, they aren't attracted to the baits. There are two professional bait that are effective against them and easy to use. One is credit Carpenter Ant Granules for use on the outside and the other is MaxForce Carpenter Ant Gel for the inside. The most common areas I locate carpenter ants nests inside will be crown molding and hollow core doors...the frass (saw dust looking piles) should give away where on earth the nest is at.
