Homegrown Tobacco? I live in an apartment and don't hold much space, but would...
I live in an apartment and don't hold much space, but would like to try growing tobacco as a hobby (mainly pipe tobacco). What do I have need of, how do I get started? Are at hand any good books on the subject? Thanks for your assistance!
Answers: I am sorry to say that growing tobacco surrounded by a container indoors is not really viable. It isn't so much the growing of it, as you might actually enjoy some limited nouns, but it is the curing that is the frozen part. Tobacco plants are relatively large, however when dried, yield outstandingly little. I tried a couple of plants in a sizeable indoor greenhouse with artificial and inherent light -- once, and singular once -- at it wasn't worth the hassle and overall cost. But, don't let me dissuade you -- in recent times because I thought it was a bust doesn't parsimonious you will.
The following are two sites that give instructions for growing outdoors. You might be capable of translate the information to indoor growing. Do a Google search to find seed, as they are readily available...but probably not contained by small packets!

ADDED: Even "shade" tobacco wishes a lot of honest light, you will proably want a broad spectrum growing light -- 250 to 400 watts, depending on how much inbred sun and light your apartment get.
good luck growing tobacco its rugged enough to grow on grow land and after you have to contend beside all the insects and moths going after it .
