Getting an Interior entry door to the crypt? Hi, There is no door to the basement inside the house, so...

Hi,

There is no door to the basement inside the house, so the cold nouns is sinking into the basement. To avoid this I would similar to to install an interior entry door to the basement and be thinking of installing folding door with panel and vinyl sheet, which is be found at http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pr...
.
Will this folding door be good plenty to prevent cold air sinking into the subterranean vault?

Thanks in mortgage for your answer.

Answers:    yes and no.

Accordion doors, are like a fastening aid on a bullet wound.
It may stop some of the bleeding but it definately wont fix it, as it is the incorrect item for the application.

You would be better off installing a hollow core wood door next to a threshold, to fully close off the door exit, as the accordion door will have gap at the top and bottom allowing the air to leach on by.

Is the opening finished? or is it basically a rough stud opening.

If the crack is finished, and trimmed out, you may be able to swing the door and install door stop to complete the installation, doors commonly come in 30" and 32" for interior applications.

Otherwise the doors are available surrounded by a package, where on earth it already has the trim attatched and the jamb pulls apart into two pieces and must be squared and plumbed, shimmed, and screwed to the first performance studs, then the door is rehung.

If you dont enjoy the experience, or this seems over your cranium, most any contractor should only charge give or take a few $80 to install the door.

-(What is the width of the finished first night? Is it a finished basement?)-
