is there a home remedy for getting the smell of dog pee out of hearth rug my dog has pee adjectives over the carpet i dont even know where on earth she peed so something i could put all over the runner that will get the smell out. i enjoy tryed a spray that supposed to get the smell out but it doesnt and it smells even worse. (a mix of dog pee and purfume from the spray)
The first step to remove urine from carpet is to bring rid of the problem animal. I have worked within the apartment industry for 17 years and pet urine is the single most costly destruction of property that we deal beside. That little puppy was so cute when you first get him was'nt he? Remove the stinking carpet and throw it away. Then remove the filling and throw that away. Remove any affected tack strip and throw that away. I hope the floor underneath is not wood. The sub floor will want to be treated and disinfected, the same channel with the baseboards if they are infected. If you are renting you will solely lose your deposit, if you own your home, it's going to cost you BIG.
It can't be done, it can only be masked and not in need consequence, as you've discovered.
Humidity at different times of day, season, year, etc., also contribute to it more or smaller number.
Carpet must be replaced in section, maybe from closets where on earth it won't show, or completely re-carpet the room or rooms.
You can check areas with what's call a "urine & moisture detector". You can get one from a janitorial or hearth rug supply distributor, or on line. It's impossible to tell apart as an electrical tester if you have one. It checks continuity even when urine is dry and surrounded by the carpet for years, it still conducts continuity.
I'm within construction & real estate regulation and test for mat contamination periodically as required.

Answers: For the short permanent status you can spray white vinegar on the carpet. The vinegar smell will individual laqst for a little while, but it neutralize the other odor.
For the long term you involve to buy an enzymatic cleaner and do the whole rug. Rug Doctor have a good one, Urine Gone works in good health and Petco sells one call Natures' Miracle that is suosed to work extremely in good health.
