We have a Hotpoint FFA70 fridge/freezer. The problem is that the fridge is freezing our food, especially at the bottom of the fridge and at the rear legs, but the top of the fridge remains quite thaw out. Settings on the fridge and the freezer are set at the warmest (No.1). This is a frost free appliance but we occasionally get a build up of rime at the bottom of the fridge and often enjoy to chisel it out. We here it working and it self-defrosts, so what is causing this problem? I dont want to maintain throwing food away (or buy a new f/freezer). Any form suggestions anyone?
Answers: Frost free freezers don't work as good as they enunciate they should as they MUSTN'T be overloaded. They operate by circulating cold air fairly than traditional fridge-freezers which work by icing up/cooling the metal plates and radiating this throughout the food area. Traditional fridge-freezers are MORE well-run when they're packed full as they verbs the cold from the back panel through respectively item of touching food. Frost free ones work with a enthusiast at the back of the freezer (behind a white panel) distributing the heavens around the freezer and 'piping' it into the fridge through the vent at the top or middle storage area and the hole at the support of the salad crisper section. You involve to ensure there is LOTs of space around food within the freezer space and even more space around the vent in the fridge nouns to allow the air to circulate otherwise it will freeze the items closest to the vent, so these are more well-run when not packed to size. Also ensure the fan is operating silently (you shouldn't be capable of hear it!). If re-arranging food doesn't work, call out an plan and say it's inexact where you reflect on the fan have failed, and they'll probably install a modern thermostat or a protective foil sheet around the fan to regulate the amount of nouns it distributes into the fridge area. Only other alternative is to with ease empty the appliance and turn it past its sell-by date to allow all parts to conquer room temperature, afterwards turn it back on and at a snail`s pace re-fill to see if allowing the internal fan etc down the scenes to de-ice resolves it.
Check to see if you hold a wire(thermostat) at the back of it, it might be that it have moved out of place. this happen to me and it's sorted now, hopefully this will help out you too.
