Help? I ordered my daughter a spongebob lamp from america, it came today but im not sure if i can use a british table lamp bulb in itor not, its says use type A lantern bulb max of 40 wats, but what is a type A light bulb? Can any one help me?
Answers: Light bulbs are pretty much international, simply the names are different.
Look at the light fitting. If it have a rim with two sideways L shape cutouts, it is a BAYONET socket. If it is only as widespread as your finger, it is a SMALL BAYONET.
If the fitting has screw threads, it is an EdisonScrew fitting. These also come in everyday and small.
If you are in doubt, take the light with you to the shop. Make sure the bulb you get is not so big that it touches and overheats any cover over it.
It will be a screw fitting but these are widely available i.e. supermarkets flog them. I don't know about the wiring though, they work on lower voltages, will the flex be heavy enough? Need to ask an expert.
