Here's a trick my grandfather and I used, to shut in lots of crickets for fishing.

All you need is a unharmed loaf of stale bread (or more than one if you want multiple traps), an Italian style loaf works the best. You also need an clear coffee can with a lid (or similar) and a few rubber band.

Take the loaf of bread and slice it lengthwise, like you be going to make garlic bread. Gently hollow out both halves, departure about 1/2 inch of the bread crust (should look approaching a couple of small canoes).

Put the two halves back together and hold them surrounded by place with the rubber band.

At only one pause of the reassembled loaf, remove enough bread to form a 1/2 inch hole. You've only made a cricket motel.

Set the loaf (or loaves) in a spot subsequent to a wall or under an purpose where they won't be disturbed. Wait something like 12 hours before checking the bread trap.

Put your unfurnished coffee can on the ground, gently pick up the bread and place the hole of the bread trap over the can. A meek tap on the loaf will dislodge any crickets into your can, snap on the lid and their history.

The trap works very well, because it fits all of the crickets environmental requests. Their getting a food source that's abundant, it's jammy to eat and digest, while providing them shelter. Can't trounce that. ; )

Anyway, I've done this since the early 60's and I've never have to buy crickets for fishing.
sticky pads work if you place them within the right location
