We came within from a walk this evening. There be a strange looking bug crawling up my daughters leg. I flicked it off + swatted it.(sorry, to bug lovers) it have green blood. I've not seen a bug approaching this before. Like a cockroach, going on for 1.5cm. Shaped like a trophey shield. Can anyone update me what it was please.
Answers: It sounds approaching a hawthorn shield bug. Go to www.whatsthatbug.com they have pictures of these and lots of other bugs. It be completely harmless to your daughter.
Without a detailed description I'm afraid it would be thorny to tell. An insect have a circulatory system that carries food, but not oxygen throughout its body. Because it does not fetch oxygen, insect blood is green, not red like mammal blood. The insect heart is a simple tube running along their back. So you see all insects own green blood.
