I rely on electric portable heaters to heat my apt. They are deeply expensive costing me at least an extra $100/month on my hydro bill. lately I find that if I freshly turn on one elemnt on my stove it will heat my entire apt much quicker than the heaters. Is this cheaper???
Answers: No. All electric heaters (which your stove primarily is) are essentially 100% efficient. Electricity is expensive though, so they are usually a poor choice to bake with.
I'm not sure what your financial situation is, but if you could invest surrounded by a wood burning stove and PLEASE have it installed by a professional. That is minus a doubt the most inexpensive way to warmness a home.
