I got a ¡®Planning Notification¡¯ note through my letterbox today to tell me that my neighbour have asked for permission to construct a sports car port next to my house. I checked out the plan on the Council¡¯s Planning Dept. website and get a shock. The car port is huge and slopes down to inwardly a couple of inches of the side of my house. I am concerned that when it rains it is going to drain voluminous amounts of rain dampen against the side of my house. There is no indication of any guttering on the car port on the plan.

My press is twofold. (1) If the car port pours rainfall water against the side of my house will it lay waste to my wall and (2) can the Council insist on appropriate guttering on the car port if I ask for it?
Answers:    1) yes sea damage will go off and since the water is above humidify course, this will likely manifest as black mould on your interior plasterwork

2) in attendance are specific building regulations for gaps between buildings and for rainwater regulation, you should speak with the local planning organization and discuss your concerns
