I'm finding it indoors in my home during summer, here in Atlanta, Georgia.
They look similar to centipedes contained by that they're long and narrow, yet they don't appear to hold legs that protrude like a centipede.
They're light to dusk brown and about an inch long is the biggest I've seen. I tend to find most of them within the morning when I wake up so I guess they like to come out when it's poorly lit.
The minute you touch them, they curl up into a spiral like they're playing dead.
Any view what it might be?
centipede's are only the adjectives ones which curl up.
i think they are a differenr variety of centipede, within are so many varieties.
I know exactly what it is but not by name..it is not a centipede or millipede..the insect you are talking just about has more of an armor like appearance and harder outer side similar to the bearing a suit of armor is used..overlapping sections on thier shell..they are rounder and smaller and do not have a soft body approaching centi/millipedes which have a softer flatter body and longer legs..the ones you speak of are rounder and thier legs are real small..not elongated similar to the "pedes".. It sounds like some sort of caterpillar. Without a picture of one the only entity I could suggest is to look in a field guide or flush the web for pictures of insects to compare with the bug you find surrounded by your house. That business of curling up into a spiral is very common among insects similar to this. Or you could take one to the county extention service and they could identify it for you.
They're millipedes. I have really big ones surrounded by my house, they come in when I switch on the light in the past the sun comes up. And they're not insects, just creepy crawlies. maybe a silverfish?
must be some other humane of centipede...
