My Dad is a hoarder of junk and his house is full of 'tat' that he have collected but refuses to tidy up or throw away. It is presently so bad that he is running out of chairs to sit on (they are full of junk) and within is nowhere to walk.
Can anyone recommend a suitable book that recommends ways to tidy a house or somehting that will startle him into getting tidy?
I have tried repeated describing him to get his stroke together and tried physically going round to throw stuff away but he always replaces it beside more crap. Yesterday he bought two old folks walking frames from a charity (thrift) shop just within case they might come contained by useful. When he go to the local dump after a clear out he normally come pay for with more than he go to dunp. His girlfriend of 13 years has her own house close to his and it is also piled illustrious with second-hand goods. HELP!
Answers:    My father in directive was indistinguishable, and when he died it took ages to clear his house. My wife just feel that we must not do this to our own children, so we emptied our loft, and later went through every room contained by the house to see what we could get rid of. I reflect it's to do with generation.
There's a brilliant book called Freedom from Clutter by Don Aslett, which shows you how to pare your go down to the things you actually call for, and then return with rid of all the rest.
You can try something close to 'How clean is your house' by Annie & Aggie but I assume it will take more than a book coz it sounds similar to an illness next to your dad. Try getting the local fire officer in to explain its a fire menace - that might work xxx
