Black Beetle within my mat? It's about the size of the cotton part of a q-tip/cotton swab......

It's about the size of the cotton part of a q-tip/cotton swab... It's freshly a regular shiny black color, but then again this is the first time I've seen something resembling this. I found it crawling on the carpet, so I ran across the room to attain something to kill it with. By the time I be back, I saw it digging into my carpet! I be astonished, and disgusted, so I got my vacuum cleaner, and went over the entire room it be in. A little later I saw it again! What is this, are within more beetles, and WHAT DO I DO?!
its a carpet beetle, and if you let the suckers dance they will ruin your carpet ! just vacuuming wont acquire rid of them completly.

Probably a carpet beetle. the description is too big for a hearth rug beetle...would need to see a pic to know what it is..chances are in recent times an outside beetle(s) that have found their way surrounded by

1) Ensure that you keep fluff and debris around the house to a minimum including airing cupboards, shelves, floorboards, carpet and upholstery.

2) Carpets should be vacuum-cleaned on a regular basis.

3) Lift up carpets and the underlie to ensure that floors are as clean as possbile.

4) If the infestation is bad you will involve an insecticide to get rid of them.
