The sofa bed has simply been used as a bed a couple of times, but both sofas have taken 5 years of invective from my 3 teenage children and they are still perfectly comfortable.
Detachable covers are a must...
ikea sofas and armchairs and largely furniture will last you some time if you take diligence of it (by saying that i mean only dont be too rough with it ie jumping on it etc) - detatchable covers or a throw are hugely useful if you want to keep the sofa for a while.
