Answers: Years ago (back when I had a "actual job") a customer of the company I was working for have that happen. When I asked for her code to tryout out the system I found it was still at factory defaulting. Apparently the technician installating the system, which in certainty was the owner of the company, didn't see fit to instruct the client on varying their code.
At other times I have see non-monitored alarms ripped off the wall. I enjoy also seen wireless "toilet alarms" kicked across the room (These are the do-it-yourself type plug and play systems) This hard to please one was sold by Alarmforce. Another time it be a Wireless all within one unit "professionally" installed by one of those companies you programmed. See my article on why wireless security systems are crap within the archive of my website at http://www.keepsafesystems.ca
Sometimes crooks cut the phone lines but cell back-up has fixed that problem. Now they simply cut the line and loaf to see if there is a response. A neighbour of a client of mine have their place cleaned out when the phone line to the shopping arcade was knock out. My client has cell back-up and come to check it out (Called the police and everything) The neighbour didn't, so the next morning the neighbour found their siren ripped sour the wall and the place empty while it be business as usual for my client (Except their phones didn't work.) That took days for the Telco to fix but that is another story.
no, but some alarm systems will jump off it they are tamper with
