Thank you all for answering a previous question. The item i'm going to try first this weekend is the vinegar spray. is it safe to spray vinegar on my cloth couch? They ants have gotten up within because ahh hmm, someone left an icecream bowl there.

Answers:    whether you spray vinegar...home defense. or what ever to discourage the ants running going on for all you are dealing with are foraging ants which will be smaller quantity than 5% of the ant colony causing you problems...stop them on the couch they will move over to the chair..bathroom..candy dish etc. you have need of to find out what sort of ant they are to determine what they will feed on. For protein feeding ants use Combat gel bait...for sugar feed ants use Terro. you need to address the colony not the individual foraging ants
