would 13 square yards of concrete be plenty to do 6 feet around a 16x40 pool?
Answers:    YES
depending on solidity it works out to 12 yards at 4" gluey
You surally mean 13 cubic yard. Meaning 3 dementions. Since its yards and foot well use foot (27 cu ft / yard) 40 X16 = either 52X16 or 40X28 because you hold to add on the 6 foot to one side or the other and it maybe 12 foot needed to add on if you are going 6 foot out on each side. Basicly you enjoy 4 rectangels 6 feet general. so figuring the narrowest instrument (((16+12)*6wide)*2sides)/.25 and plus the wide side (40*6*2)/.25 [for 4" gummy if 6"thick exchange the last divider to .5]. 4"tacky figures to 7.55yards, 6" would integer to 10+ yards. If Ive done this correctly. I usually draw it out so I dont forget to donate something. And so I can see the extra 6 feet I have need of for each fall of the 16' sides.I assume you want the 6' all style around the pool.
