I know if you work on a small AC unit similar to a refrigerator or water cooler, you requirement a piercing valve because they don't own any hook ups already on them. My question is once you correction a compressor or whatever, and the system is charged near refrigerant again. How do you seal the hole that the piercing stopcock left? I know you can't hand down the valve within because it will leak.
Answers: Usually, you refil into a tail surrounded by the refrigerant circuit, assuming small bore copper tubing on a small unit beside no integral fill stopcock incorporated.
The process is generally to crimp this copper tail to prevent nippy loss of refigerant, then solder it to form a durable stamp.
Piercing the pipe mid circuit on micro-bore size copper, would result in the necessitate for a repair which could well block the pipe sufficiently to restrict flow of refrigerant and, as such, is to be avoided.
you should enjoy pierced it on the compressor process tail. Once evacuated remove the piercer and install a braze on service port for future service.
