I just changed the bulb I don`t know a week ago. I always own it on during the night time so it's not on adjectives the time. I was holding my son at the time i turned it on and really anxious me. i'm glad it didn't cut either of us. It's contained by alot of pieces all over! I've have the nightlight for a couple years now and it never made any bulbs explode previously.
My first guess is that the wattage of the unknown lightbulb was not compatible beside the nightlight. If you stuck a 35 watt bulb into a 10 watt socket, well, that would mete out it. I would do some research on the specific brand of light and see if in attendance are any consumer warnings going on for hazards associated near that paticular brand and model. Also, it should be a rated electrical product beneath the Underwriters Laboratory. Their website can tell you if they hold tested your product for consumer safety compliance. Not solely are you lucky that it didn't cut you, you could have have a fire!!
Sounds to me close to a defective light bulb and nil to do with the dark lite fixture. A small crack in the bulb would form it do what you described.
Buy another bulb and try again. I'll bet all will be fine.
Answers: First to address low_talk, if the fixture is rated for 10 watts and you use a 35 watt bulb, you'll gain very dim lighting. I enjoy changed alot of bulbs in my go time and never had any blow up on me. Voltage can be a factor near light bulbs, but contained by that case the filament glow for a few seconds and you hold no light after.
Now as the other answer indicated, you have a defective bulb. Alot of people buy standard lamp bulbs at a cheap price because they're are imported and that's the results surrounded by alot of cases along with inoperative at all and hold just be installed. Since it's important to you, settle up alittle more and buy a GE or other brand made in American..
