I have two different fluorescent lighting fixtures surrounded by my kitchen on two separate switches, sometimes they come on and sometimes they don't. Why is this??
Answers: Most likely the ballasts are going out on the lights. If they are small under-the-counter lights, they probably own a ballast on one end below the bulb. It is a shinny round object just about the size of quarter. That's the part you can see. Grab ahold of it and turn it till it comes out. It will be more or less one inch long. Take it to Home Depot or Lowe's or a hardware store. They will get you a bright one.
The bulbs may need replacing or the ballast is on its approach out. I would try the bulbs first. If they are black at one end next that could be the problem. If not then it's the ballast
